Turn shop features on and off

Each part of Retriever is an app you install or uninstall. Settings, Apps is where you change your mind.

When you opened your shop you said what kind of shop it is, and that answer switched on a few apps that suit it: a cafe starts with the counter and tables, a kirana with the counter, khata and selling by weight, a salon with bookings. Everything else waits under Add more apps, one Install away. None of it is fixed: you sell what you sell, not what your category says.

Apps is under Your shop in Settings.
  1. Open your account menu, then Settings. Use Search settings to filter its sections on a computer or a phone, or find the Your shop group.
  2. Tap Apps, the second row under Your shop.
  3. Your apps lists the ones that are installed, marked Installed, and Add more apps the rest. Both are grouped by job: Selling, Customers, Running the shop and Money. The row above them, What this shop is, shows the shop type the starting set came from.
  4. Press Install on an app under Add more apps. It saves on the spot and moves to Your apps; there is no Save button to press afterwards.
  5. Tap the app itself to open its own page: what it does, Open to go straight to it, Uninstall, and links to its settings. Uninstall asks first.
  6. Watch the dashboard follow. An app you install brings its own tab, its own settings and its own guide. One you uninstall takes them away. Nothing you recorded in it is deleted.

The apps

Settings, Apps, on an example shop. Each tile says what the app does under its name.
  • Selling: Counter, Pickup, Delivery, Tables, Bookings, Events, and Product catalog where your shop type does not already assume one (a ticket seller adding merch, a salon selling products), so nobody can uninstall the shelf their whole shop stands on.
  • Customers: Loyalty, Promo codes, Returns and Repairs.
  • Running the shop: Stock, Sold out today, Sell by weight and the TV screen.
  • Money: Credit book (khata) and Costs & profit.

Promo codes and the TV screen say Included: every shop has them, so there is nothing to install. An app marked Not on your plan comes with Pro. What it already holds is kept, and it comes back by itself when Pro does.

Almost all of them sit on top of a catalog, so they only show while your catalog is on. Uninstall the catalog and the shelf takes them with it.

Where a new app turns up

Some apps bring a whole tab. Events adds Events and Scan; khata, returns and repairs each add their own. Counter puts Open the counter at the top of the rail, and in the middle of the bottom bar on a phone. Tables adds the Table QRs pane under Link & QR. Set a table count there and a Tables tab appears after Orders for the running bills.

Others change what is inside a tab you already have: Sold out today puts an In stock / Sold out button on every product, and sell by weight adds How it's sold to the product editor. Turning Events on changes your storefront too, from a product grid to a What's on board.

Settings that live elsewhere

  • The rules for pickup, delivery and bookings (fees, hours, delivery areas) are under Selling, in Orders and delivery. Install or Uninstall on Apps and the switches in Orders and delivery move the same setting.
  • Order and message alerts and the daily summary email are in Settings → Notifications. Your password stays in Account; notifications are about how Retriever reaches you rather than about what the shop sells.
  • How customers pay you is under Selling, in Payments: your eSewa, Khalti, Fonepay or bank QR and the line that says what it is. See Take payment by QR.
  • PAN, VAT, your legal name and the service charge are under Your shop, in Shop details, with your phone and WhatsApp. The width of your printed bill is under Money, in Receipts and tax. See how a bill adds up and the roll width. The address customer replies come back to is on Shop details too, see where customer replies land. Your terms and privacy are under Your shop, in Legal.
  • Promo codes live on Marketing, on their own tab beside the photographs that play on the customer screen. The colour and the language of the dashboard itself are two rows on Settings: Colour and text size, and Language.

Nothing is deleted

Uninstalling an app hides it, it does not erase anything. Your khata balances, repair jobs and past returns all sit where you left them, and installing it again brings the tab and the rows back untouched.

Your staff tick boxes follow the same list, so installing an app also adds it to what you can grant a staff member, see Add staff and choose what they see. If something you expected is not there at all, work down When a tab or a button is missing.

  1. Ring a sale at the counterOpen the counter, build a bill, take cash or QR, and hand over a receipt.
  2. Print on a 58mm or 80mm rollTell Retriever which paper your printer takes, and the bill is laid out to fit it.
  3. Where customer replies landChoose the address a customer reaches when they reply to your order or booking email.
